Re: 1966 Rear Seat

I took all of the upholstery material off of the seat and have the frame inserted and it's much too big. No matter how you slice it, I either have to find another seat or cut this one down. Here you can see where it hangs over the rear seat front support bar. IMG_5829.jpg While it also seems to be t...

Re: 1966 Rear Seat

Hello ... sorry no one answered your original post, and thanks for the information about the seat back. I have a 66 that came with a seat bottom that is too big. Crazy. Anyway, I'm wondering if the bottom follows this same information about the top ... that 65 to 71 are the same.

Thanks,

Engine Lid Rubber Seal installation

My 66' is back from paint and they didn't do me any favors with the trunk lid seal channel or the engine lid seal channels. I've had to rework them into a condition that can hold the bead on the seal rubber https://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111827705 . Some areas are a bit loose ...

Re: Full rubber seal re-do

This post is over 10 years old, but I've got a repainted bug that needs seals. The painter didn't do me any favors by just pulling the old rubber, blasting and painting. I had to beat the trunk channel into shape so that I could re-install rubber. Nerve wracking considering the cost of new paint. I ...

Re: dashboard radio speaker cloth mesh

Wolfsburg West sells the unpainted part - https://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111857209a However, I recommend taking yours to the utility sink and soaking it and the vinyl backing behind the small right piece in Dawn dish soap, then using a fingernail brush to clean it up. Set it o...

1966 Camille

Bill and Camille bought a new 1966 bug in Pendleton, OR and Camille drove it from the farm to Le Grand to teach school. CamilleHawkins.JPG I am the second owner on title and had to work with Bill and Camille to get the lost title with a long paid off car loan still registered at the DMV. I have had ...

Re: Driver Side Mirror Problem

Ok. So I answered my own question. After finding the Samba archive of the owners manual with the pear shaped drivers side rear view mirror. I'm ordering one today. Anybody need a round mirror?

Driver Side Mirror Problem

So... It's been a while for me, but I don't remember having this issue with my other bugs. When I bought the bug, it didn't have a driver's side mirror. I bought a round replica from Wolfsburg West and installed it. When I open the drivers door, the door swings wide enough that it hits the mirror an...

Camille Project Update

So... Five years after buying a 1966 white bug from a female nursing student at Linfield University in McMinnville, OR without a title, I am beginning the restoration. Getting the title is a whole other story. Her owners were gracious, cooperative and in their mid-90s. I am now the second (on title)...
