The advice above regarding doubling the dwell and RPM readings when using a 12 volt meter on a 6 volt system does not make any sense to me.
Sounds like a misapplication of doubling the dwell for an 8 cylinder meter when working on a 4 cylinder motor.
Just my 2 cents worth

Re: Oily film on windows
Are the heater/defroster vents open (Red and White handles "up")? If so: Does your engine leak oil onto the heat exchangers? If you have no heat exchangers: Are the entry ports to the heater channels properly covered up? Have you been eating a diet rich in garlic and olive oil? (Sorry abou...

Re: Flywheel/clutch mystery
According to Wilson (page 43) "How to rebuild your Volkswagen air-cooled engine" (highly recommended): The 1965 1500cc Bus was equipped with a one-off flywheel with the 200 mm clutch surface and 109 teeth to accommodate the 6V starter. This flywheel was a non-O-ring type. This is important...

1300. Thanks for the info re: the VISCA bore kit. I sent those pistons out to be balanced and plan to use them on yet another 1300 stock build later this summer...I believe that I will use the VISCA rings now that I've heard a good report about their performance The Deves rings are for a set of 77mm...

Need Help Installing Deves Rings for 1300cc 77mm Pistons
I am doing a stock restoration of my 1300cc engine. Managed to find a set of NOS 77mm cylinders and pistons. Purchased a new set of Deves rings (No. 1838 STD) for these pistons because they are reported to break-in very quickly. The ring set consists of a top compression ring (#1), a middle compress...

Thanks for the pointer to the JBUGS EMPI 31-2935 oil pump. However, there a few things about that pump that are very different from the OEM unit. First, it has a cast iron body (rather than aluminum). Second, the pumping gears are 26mm long (much larger than the OEM 19mm). Third, I can find no infor...

Replacing stock oil pump
Greetings 1966ers. I am doing a completely stock rebuild of my 1966 F-case engine. Finding the correct intake manifold and 77mm pistons/cylinders was quite a chore. Now I am trying to source a new oil pump. Specifically, I am looking for an oil pump with 6mm studs, small oil gallery holes and 21mm g...
