Re: Front upron buckle job
Haha- thank you for the polite correction...Apron. Can you believe it- in all my years of forum world (this being the first), I have never been successful in posting a pic... always too large (off my phone). Well, with your encouragement, I was able to use the jack off my T3 Transporter and a bolted...

Compression test results analysis.
Hi. I have just done my first ever compression test. This has been warranted by an engine I've been working on that has never given me a good performance...however, I also recently changed the combustion chamber and carburetors and performance was even worse despite several tune-up attempts. Did you...

Re: Idiot light connection to a volt regulator
Hi. I have it much thought & was able to figure it out. The dash board light connects to the D+ terminal and not the Df as I did. The D+ terminal is an "equal ground" when the generator is stationery or not at good RPM. When it achieves the RPM, it gives a positive charge which cancels...

Re: Idiot light connection to a volt regulator
Hmmm!!! The generator does charge... but the indicator light doesn't go off... what could I be doing wrong? The cut-out has 3 indicated terminals and a 4th I assume(d) is a ground.... B+/D+/Df.... I connected the light onto the Df terminal together with the connection that comes from the generator o...

Wiper motor/ switch connection
Hi.
I have a mix up and can't figure my way back. I undid my wiper connection (motor and switck).
The switch has pins 31, 31b, 54, 54d. The motor has pins 53, 31 and 53a. What goes where? When I connect as I believe it was, the motor doesn't function... kindly assist.

Hi.
I was privileged to get a second hand item that is good. I'd still appreciate responses on the matter.

Flywheel (type 4 engine)
Hi. What material is the vw (& more specifically the type 4) flywheel? I have one that was messed by a previous owner (it came messed with the engine). Seems they'd used it for an engine conversion and then went back to the original- problem is, they welded it back. I'd wanted to get it well-don...

Spark plug thread repair- advice
Hi.
I have a cylinder with the spark plug threads pulled. I was wondering- for our aluminum heads, what would be the best material to use while fixing that section? Some guys say copper- others (my home area) just use what is more available (steel). I'd like to go for the best solution.
Thanks.

Front upron buckle job
Hi. I'm working on my bug. It was once in an accident leaving the front side getting a buckle inwards. The upron ain't that bad but the sides caves in with serious buckles. Is there anyone whose posted pics of how they restored a similar incident? 8 am not privileged to access the panels bought for ...

Idiot light connection to a volt regulator
A happy new year to you all.
I have installed a generator as a replacement of an alternator. I can understand the connections from the generator to the cut-out system (volt regulator) but left with a question- how to connect the idiot light line into the system. Kindly advice. Thanks.

Re: piston bore to engine capacity (relation)
Hehe- I've just seen the formula...and it now makes sense (some stuff I read a while back but didn't add it all up- now I do).
0.785 x bore squared x stroke x number of cylinders.

piston bore to engine capacity (relation)
Hi.
A question. if a 2 liter has piston bore of 94 mm, if all other factors are held constant except piston bore reduced to 90 mm, do you think the math to calculate new engine capacity will equate to (90x2000)/94 ? Would that be correct?
Thanks.

Lead wires query
Hi. Please help me understand a few things about the spark plug lead wires; - how can you tell for sure it is dead? - what should the resistance of a good wire be? - I have seen some lead wires that do not have the holder/cup that clamps onto the spark plug... and that is a section, I believe, that ...

Re: Any idea how to use this device?
It's hard to tell what you have because the image did not appear in your post. A typical timing light will have three leads. One for the positive terminal of the battery, one for the negative terminal of the battery and the one for connecting to the number one spark plug wire. True. I tried posting...
